Applied Public Health Concentration

Students will complete a broad-based, hands-on program of study with the flexibility to tailor their focus with more guided elective options. The focus of this master’s degree is on public health education, information, and advocacy. Students will apply their skills and knowledge to become front-line public health practitioners and public health leaders.


Public Health Informatics Concentration

Students will learn skills that are essential for informing contemporary public health practice and policy. This online program offers a balanced set of courses covering health informatics foundations and terminology, the use of public health and healthcare information systems to improve health outcomes, health data analytics, information systems management, and the use of public health data visualization for evidence-based practice.

Program Highlights

Program of StudyStudents will complete 42 credit hours.
Students generally take 3 courses per semester (including one summer) and are able to finish the program in two years. However, because this program is online we are able to offer some flexibility in this schedule.
PracticumStudents will complete one practicum (practice-based experience) during their final semester.
• This is an in-person experience, but can be done at a location near you.
• The practicum is about 20-25 hours per week over the course of the semester.
ResearchWe have faculty working in many areas of public health (see a list of faculty research interests.) In addition, our Office of Public Health Practice and Research is available to assist our online students.
