Welcome

Welcome to the Karl E. Peace Center for Biostatistics and Research. As part of the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health (JPHCOPH), Georgia Southern University, the center provides biostatistical and research consulting services within the University and in collaboration with external researchers.

Goals

The center’s goals are to function as a full spectrum research resource to Georgia Southern University and the external community engaged in health-related research. Overall, the center provides both biostatistical and epidemiologic expertise, including study design, data management, and statistical analysis of public health data, and provides training and education relevant to public health and other clinical and translational research. Our focus includes intervention trials and pharmaceutical drug, device, or biologics research and development as well as observational studies related to health behaviors or outcomes.

Students

We support the Master and Doctorate of Public Health degrees with an emphasis in Biostatistics or Epidemiology. The center engages students to prepare them in practical and computational aspects of design and analysis of research conducted in public health and clinical environments and in the research and development of pharmaceutical products useful in the prevention and treatment of disease. Clinical trial development and support is a major focus. Graduates of the programs can have exciting and rewarding employment opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry, government, and public health agencies (FDA, CDC, state, and local), academia, and research organizations.

Services

Support and services provided address all phases of the research process, including research planning (experimental or research design, research aim, sample size determination, data collection form design, protocol development, research protocols, etc.), statistical simulation and computing, data management, statistical analysis, interpretation of the results, and report/manuscript development. The center also provides specialized courses, such as biostatistical aspects of the research, development, and regulation of pharmaceuticals and design and conduct of observational and interventional studies. Additionally, we provide consultation with subject-matter experts in the areas of maternal child health, mental health, program evaluation, research design, study conduct, and more.

We look forward to meeting with you to discuss ways we may assist you in your research.

Thank you for your interest in our center.
