Nandi Marshall, JPHCOPH Doctoral Student, awarded Vivian Drenckhahn Scholarship

 

Nandi Marshall, a second year Community Health Behavior and Education Doctoral student in the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health at Georgia Southern University, was awarded the Vivian Drenckhahn Student Scholarship from the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE). This national award was created to provide support to full time students who are working towards a degree in health education. Each year two students are selected to receive this award who has demonstrated a commitment to addressing the public's health through a career in health education, academic excellence, and financial need.

Mrs. Marshall's passion and commitment to health education was clear in the statement that she submitted to SOPHE: "As a health educator and member of the public health community whose life work is to work towards health equity, it is without a doubt that my role to address these concerns will be through my continued work with the Society of Public Health Education, engaging in research with communities and eventually pursuing a career in academia."

Nandi received her B.A. in Religious Studies from Spelman College and her M.P.H. from East Stroudsburg University. She is also a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES).
