| Dr. Charles Hardy, Dean of the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health at Georgia Southern University received the 2009 Distinguished Educator/Researcher of the Year Award from the Georgia Rural Health Association. The Award Ceremony and Reception was the opening event for the annual meeting of the Georgia Rural Health Association, September 21-23, 2009 at the Brasstown Valley Resort in Young Harris, Georgia.
The Georgia Rural Health Association (GRHA) is the oldest state rural health association in the country. Founded in 1981 at Georgia Southern University, this nonprofit network of healthcare providers, educators, and individuals is united in its commitment to improve the health and healthcare services of rural Georgians. GRHA understands that the rural communities in Georgia are unique and have different health needs than their urban counterparts. These rural communities, and those who provide the healthcare services in these areas, require an educational strategy that is specifically tailored to meet their unique health challenges. Dean Hardy was honored with this award for his leadership as Founding Dean of the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health at Georgia Southern University.
