Dr. Din Chen appointed as the Karl E. Peace Endowed Eminent Scholar Chair in Biostatistics in the JPHCOPH

 

Dr. Din Chen was recently appointed as the Karl E. Peace Endowed Eminent Scholar Chair in Biostatistics in the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health at Georgia Southern University. Dr. Chen's most recent appointment was as a tenured full professor with the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at South Dakota State University and the Department of Surgery, Sanford School of Medicine, University of South Dakota. Professor Chen holds the Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Guelph, Canada, the MS in Applied Statistics, Hunan University, China and the BS in Applied Mathematics from Jishou University, China. Dr. Chen's work experience includes time at the following agencies/universities: International Pacific Halibut Commission at the University of Washington, Seattle, the Pacific Biologic Station, Government of Canada, Wayne State University and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, Ontario, Canada. He has an established publication record and has been a participant in grants and contracts totaling over 3 million dollars in funding. Dr. Chen has extensive experience in biostatistical research and collaborations with researchers from public health, biology, environmental and biomedical sciences, etc.

The Karl E. Peace Endowed Eminent Scholar Chair in Biostatistics is the first Endowed Eminent Scholar Chair established at Georgia Southern University. Dr. Peace is the architect of the MPH in Biostatistics and Founding Director of the Karl E. Peace Center for Biostatistics in the JPHCOPH. His endowment fueled the BOR to establish the JPHCOPH as the first school of public health in the USG.
