His research also examines racial/ethnic disparities in the quality of care, the interplay between physical and mental health, and the enhancement of social capital as a potential community health policy tool that may promote healthy behaviors and reduce obesity risk. Examining critical issues in public health, Dr. Yoon analyzes large datasets from both multi-agency databases and complex surveys using rigorous research designs and econometric techniques with a particular emphasis on causal inference.
His work has received several awards and honors. In 2008, he received an honorary award from the 14th NIMH Biennial Research Conference on the Economics of Mental Health for his work in mental health economics and policy research.
